How To Firm Up Sagging Neck Skin
By: Kathleen P. Walsh - March 2009
If you are wondering how to firm up sagging neck skin, you are probably getting a little older and you don’t want
to resort to cosmetic surgery. There are natural agents that improve firmness. Clinical research has shown this to
be true. Here you will learn about a couple of the things that you can easily do to improve your appearance and
your skin’s overall health.
In a recent study, researchers showed that taking an omega3 fish oil capsule increased the skin’s firmness by 10%
over a three month period of time. If you haven’t heard of omega3 fish oil, you might want to learn more about it.
Omega3s are a kind of fatty acid that most people do not get enough of in their daily diet. In the body, they fight
inflammation, support heart health and improve brain function.
Why are omega3s a part of how to firm up sagging neck skin? There are several reasons. First of all, sebum, the
skin’s natural moisturizer, contains fatty acids. Secondly, chronic inflammation damages the skin’s cells and
fibers. Those cells and fibers are responsible for firmness. But, suppose you wanted a 50% improvement in firmness,
rather than just 10%?
In clinical trials, researchers showed that a cream containing Functional Keratin improved the skin’s firmness
by over 40% after 18 days of continuous use. Functional Keratin is composed of protein bound to small amounts of
copper and zinc. This combination has been shown to regenerate new tissue, increase the production of new fibers
and increase the production of new cells.

So, obviously, the use of a cream containing Functional Keratin is an important part of how to firm up sagging
neck skin. But, what else should the cream contain?
One of the elements that cause the skin to be firm and taut is a compound called hyaluronic acid. Levels of
hyaluronic acid are lowered in older skin, than in younger. The reason is an enzymatic reaction that breaks down
the amino acid/glucose complex that is almost like glue.
An extract from Wakame Kelp has been shown to inhibit the enzymatic reaction that breaks down hyaluronic acid.
In clinical trials, it was shown that Phytessence Wakame inhibited the enzyme activity by over 50% after 5 days of
use.
So, Functional Keratin and wakame Kelp are important parts of how to firm up sagging neck skin. What else should we
look for?
One of the things that causes the breakdown of collagen and leads to loss firmness is free radical activity.
Free radicals are tiny molecules that are always present in the human body. If they become excited, they damage the
cells and the fibers.
Antioxidants quench free radicals and prevent them from doing damage, but older skin has been shown to contain more
free radicals and fewer antioxidants.
Antioxidants can also repair damage that has already occurred. So, the final formula for how to firm up sagging
neck skin by over 50% includes omega3 fatty acids, Functional Keratin, Wakame kelp and antioxidants. You can get
all of those from the same manufacturer.
It's likely that you... like most of us, take dietary supplements of one type of another. But, do you really
know if you are receiving the benefits that you expect? So many of the supplements on the market are ineffective
either due to low potency levels, or, they simply do not contain what is stated on the label. Even worst, many
supplements can have dangerously high levels of contaminants due to relaxed regulatory regulations governing the
manufacture of dietary supplements. There is some interesting information available on this subject. If you take
supplements we would recommend you check out this info by clicking here.
